Please note this paper does not have the same properties as Pastelmat paper.
You will need to adjust your pastel technique when using the Canson Velvet, especially if you are used to working with Pastelmat. The Canson Velvet Paper, hard surface, provides a consistent colour, and firm base. This robust nature of the paper, can result in certain pastel pencils skipping across the surface.
Please note this is not a fault with the paper, and limited to a small amount of pencils colours. We advise using softer pencils such as Carbothello, Caran d'Ache, Unison, PanPastel etc when working with this paper. You can also try using the pencil on its edge to lay down colour .
