Felting Needles & Accessories

Choosing the right felting needle makes all the difference — and at PaperStory, our needles are carefully selected from our favourite UK suppliers to give you the best results.

Gauge guide: Felting needles are sized by gauge — the higher the number, the finer the needle. If you're just starting out, we recommend a Nº 36 Triangle for initial sculpting and bulk felting, paired with a Nº 38 or Nº 40 for finer detail work.

Needle types:

• Triangle — the most versatile all-rounder, with downward-facing barbs along all three edges, ideal for general sculpting and shaping
• Twisted — a spiral twist along the shaft provides fast, firm felting, great for building up density quickly
• Star — four edges in a star configuration for rapid felting and sculpting, excellent for surface work
• Crown — barbs only at the tip, used for catching fine fibres and delicate surface finishing
