Artists’ handmade paper made from the inner bark or bast fibre of mitsumata with chopped tea leaf.
Important This paper will arrive folded, and posted in a smaller box than the size of the paper listed. We will try and minimise the crease by gently folding rather than adding a firm crease where possible. However, the paper will have a crease or fold. This allows us to sell these papers at a much more affordable price, and without minimum quantities. If you would like flat sheets they are available in store. Unfortunately we can't post flat, due to the size.
Mitsumata is lighter toned and softer than lokta. Known as argeli in Nepal, this is a native plant of the Himalayan foothills. Mitsumata is a sustainable and renewable resource. Plants are cropped above ground level and can be reharvested after 3-4 years. The papers are made using the Japanese nagashizuki dipping and layering method of papermaking. Vegan.
